Mutation:
Kelsey possesses a telepathically-based brand of omni-linguism. She can speak any language when in the presence of someone else who speaks it. Because of its telepathic base, Kelsey will tend to produce the accent of the person she is "absorbing" the language from, and her vocabulary and knowledge of the language is limited to what the other knows. Her tendency to mimic accents also extends to English: she can replicate the accents of those around her.

Kelsey has started learning how to begin retention of a language by repeated exposure to a person who speaks it. Once she absorbs a language a significant amount of times, she is able, with difficulty, to begin using the language outside of that person's presence. Given intensive use of a language, she would retain it between 1-2 months. Given less intensive retention attempts, it could take anywhere from 3-6 months. At this point, the only languages that she has not learned by traditional means that she can use without the help of another are German and French.

Her ability to retain languages also affects her ability to read in that language. Reading comes easier than speaking or listening, so she is able to read in a different language (without the help of another) quicker and with less effort than it would take to speak or listen. At this point, without traditional study or the help of another, she can read in German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Italian.

Because her mind is naturally programmed to deal with language, Kelsey is also able to learn language traditionally at a much faster rate.

Skills:
Kelsey can speak fluent Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese), French, German, and several dialects of Arabic. She has taken approximately ten years of kickboxing, and has basic firearms training. Her former position in MI6 as a language specialist also has made her skilled not only in translation, which comes naturally, but dealing with large quantities of information and determining the important parts.

Personality Profile:
Kelsey is intelligent, discerning, and observant. She has a generally friendly attitude to most people, but is very willing to deal with them in less positive interactions. She is a particularly good communicator, able to tailor her communication styles to the situation and/or person at hand (whether or not this is related to her powers is unknown). Some childhood difficulties with anger stemming from experiences as a teen are still being dealt with, and are most likely to be exacerbated by feeling that she is in a situation she cannot control. However, she is most often noted to be cool under pressure.

Notes:
Because her power is psionically based, Kelsey's mind will stick out among other flatscans. She is not more susceptible to telepathic interference than a normal flatscan, but she is more obvious.
